An Unhealable Wound

“It’s not the world that was my oppressor, because what the world does to you, if the world does it to you long enough and effectively enough, you begin to do to yourself.

You become a collaborator, an accomplice of your own murderers, because you believe the same things they do.

They think it’s important to be white and you think it’s important to be white; they think it’s a shame to be black and you think it’s a shame to be black.

And you have no corroboration around you of any other sense of life.”

James Baldwin

“Everywhere, everywhere, children are the scorned people of the earth.”

Toni Morrison

Family,

Can you please help me to understand what must happen to a human being that the idea of murdering a six-year-old boy is remotely within the realm of possibility?

Who or what pulverizes the heart, mangles the mind, and strips the spirit to such a degree that pointing a gun at a baby, pulling the trigger, and leaving the shattered and desecrated body in the wilderness to rot is something that borders on ritual?

How could they have possibly looked into that baby’s sweet face and said, “You must be destroyed”?

What have we created here to have so expertly and severely severed people from their compassion?

When children kill children as simply as if it were a video game and virtual reality, every adult in the society is to blame.

How do we undo this hateful hate that corrodes the insides first, then spills out and poisons the world?

You tell me.

How?

From The Root:

“Dwan Diondro Wakefield, 17, D’Allen Washington, 17, and Bryon McBride Jr., 19, are all in custody and will all be charged with capital murder for the heinous killing of 6-year-old Kingston Frazier, said Madison County District Attorney Michael Guest.

As previously reported by The Root, there were initially two persons of interest. Wakefield, a senior at Ridgeland High School and the school’s former starting quarterback, was taken into custody soon after Kingston’s body was found.”

Look at that boy’s face. How could you not only love it? How?

I don’t like to wish bad things on people, but may this child’s murderers feel eternal turmoil. May they never have a moment’s rest. May Kingston’s face forever haunt them. May the pain they inflicted be ever visited upon them. May restitution be extracted from their souls. May, in their enlightenment, their suffering never cease.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
