Black Men Loving Black Men Is Still a Revolutionary Act (or White Supremacist Capitalist Cishetpatriarchy Is Winning)

Charlemagne tha God talks to rapper Beanie Sigal in the radio station of the Breakfast Club at Power 105.1 FM

“This homosexuality shit is at an all-time high. It’s sickening to me. I shouldn’t have to explain to my son why two men is on prime-time television kissing. There’s nothing positive or good comes out of that.”

- Rapper Beanie Sigal on the The Breakfast Club,Power 105.1 FM, October, 11, 2016

1. This one of the reasons that even though I grew up in the culture and love it, I sleep next to hip hop with one eye open.

2. Beanie is disgusted by black men loving each other, but judging from his lyrical content, criminal record, and behavior, he’s all for black men harming each other — even if he has to do it himself. What’s the difference between him and anti-black, white supremacists again? White supremacy is WINNING when some black people would rather see two black men kill each other than kiss each other.

3. Why am I even concerned with what a washed-up, irrelevant rapper desperately trying to claim a few more milliseconds of his 15 minutes by trampling over those he deems lower on social hierarchy than he has to say? Because he said it in a public platform for every queer child to hear, and his hosts failed to challenge him (although Charlemagne presented a rather meek alternate perspective to Beanie’s blistering one).

4. Toxic masculinity is genocide.

5. What black queerantagonists never realize is that their own attempts at liberation will always, hardily fail. For our freedom is inextricably bound together so that there can never be a free black person PERIOD unless black queer people are also free. Because:

a. you need our help even if you don’t think so.

b. there aren’t enough of you to do it on your own; history and your current degraded state makes that plain.

c. doing it any other way is just replicating white supremacy with a black face and, therefore, evil, which will lead other marginalized people to rise against you like you aim to rise against white supremacy. Without us, you become the latest occupying force that needs to be vanquished.

d. united we stand, divided we fall ain’t just a saying.

e. putting the word “some” in front of “Black Lives Matter” is the precise equivalent to putting the word “no” in front of “Black Lives Matter.”

f. you cannot come into your full humanity with love lacking at your center. Queerantagonism is a PROFOUND absence of love and in that absence, the only possibility is failure.

So do you want to fail or do you want to succeed?
