Experience Your Own Life – so that you won’t let others’ comments to become your beliefs
I always love to talk about how I started to draw and post on Instagram. It wasn’t a story of a talented kid who drew great once she knew how to hold a pen. Obviously you can tell by looking at my illustrations. I don’t have a formal training on art or design. And since young, I had been told by my mother that I had no gift on art at all.
You may say that my drawing skill is not good, or better than those who can’t draw. That’s not the point. It doesn’t matter how good or bad my drawing is, it’s how I looked at my untalented part and what to do with it.
I’m sure all of us have faced the same situation at some point in our lives – someone told us that we were not good at something, or even worse teased us and had us better not to do that again. I wasn’t a person with super strong will to do something despite what others said. For years, I believed I had no talent in art and it’s okay.
But it’s NOT okay. Not okay as in I let other’s comment to become my belief, not okay as in I gave up chances to explore and experience on art, not okay as in I let go of my own power in my life. How about you? Have you stopped doing something fun because of what others said? Have you let others to determine who you are?
True that some people have talents and can master the skills really fast. And there are people who put much time and effort on sharpening their skills and succeed too.
It’s okay if you don’t like something after you tried, don’t let others to stop you from exploring. Reclaim our power and experience our lives, it’s more fun than letting others to experience that for us.
So I draw and keep drawing.
