The Temptations of Christ by Botticelli

I’m not easily shocked, but the muscles in my forehead are aching with the altitude to which my eyebrows have risen. How could it have taken so long for you to be bored with Trump and his teeny, tiny tweet-formula? But, it’s only another temptation.

The Devil tempted Christ two thousand years ago only with food, self-importance and World Dominion. He was never tempted by boredom. What if one thousand years ago, the geese guarding the Roman Capitoline Hill had been smitten by ennui and failed to warn of the invading enemy? How many drivers in recent times have nodded off with boredom and become embedded in a tree? It is only the intellectuals who will be bored by Trump. His loyal Trumpite fans will be as endlessly enthralled by his tactic each day as they were by the unswerving formula of his TV show.

Be vigilant!
