The Higher Purpose of Temptations

The purpose of temptations *isn’t* to be fulfilled.

By saying yes to temptation — by not standing your ground with a clear “no” — you are fueling your lower self.

The price for short-termist pleasure: a worsened lack of impulse control, and unforeseen costs to your health, your social well-being, or your time.

It erodes your connection with your higher Self.

Why do we face temptations at all?

Consider the higher purpose of temptations:

To serve as a spiritual dumbbell.

By practicing saying “no” to a temptation, you are spiritually “working out”.

You are saying YES to a higher impulse.

Grow your willpower muscle. Say a clear NO to temptation.

Each time you do this, you gain ability to connect with your higher guidance. And you will experience benefits in other areas of life.

Next time you encounter a temptation — probably within the next few hours — remember that it is a gift… truly… but not in the way your lower self thinks. It is an opportunity to reconnect with higher self.

Breathe. Relax into your higher guidance.

Then, take a positive action.

You’ll be glad you did.
