This article made me want to take my headphones off and stab myself in the ear with a pencil. Yes people need to talk etc at work but ffs to do serious work you need to be able to get some peace and quiet. Additionally yes, some of us are introverts and open office plans are like somebody taking a belt sander to our fricking faces for 8 plus hours a day. It’s how we’re wired, for crying out loud. I’m fortunate enough to be in a work environment with a balance between collaborating and actually getting to focus on stuff at a deep level sometimes, but I read stuff like this or hear from friends in open office plans and shudder. Telework plus coworking spaces are a much better option and hopefully things move there when everybody gets over their pride enough to admit their mistake here.
