Bernie Sanders Statement on Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter’s Debt-Free College Legislation

CHARLESTON, S.C. — U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Friday released the following statement on South Carolina Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter’s legislation calling for debt-free college:
 
“I commend Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter for her ambitious debt-free college legislation in South Carolina. Our student debt crisis impacts Americans of all ages, particularly women and men of color, and the moment has arrived for our country to demand that every young person who studies hard in school has the opportunity to go to college. Crippling student debt prevents too many Americans from gaining access to higher education and burdens them for decades after they graduate. I urge the state legislature to act swiftly to help make the college dream a reality for all South Carolinians.”
