Juan Colón, CEO at Darwinex: “attending South Summit is a must for every startup willing to make it to the next level”

Why did you decide to start your business and hw did you come up with the idea?
My brother is one of 6 million semi-professional independent traders globally. Many of them work full time to grow money — but regulation and lack of alternatives limits their talent to just trading their personal capital. So we went: the best of these people surely are good… so why not let them grow our money alongside theirs? That’s when we figured listing independent traders on Exchange was overdue.
What does being an entrepreneur mean for you?
Imagine tomorrow, and convince employees, customers and investors to join your journey, today.
Why your company is useful for the user?
Thanks to the Internet, thousands of traders have gained access to financial markets. However, there was no platform to date that ticked all the boxes for traders to live off their trading. Darwinex aligns traders’ and investors’ interests in a 100% compliant way so both parties can benefit from traders’ intellectual property. It’s a win win!
Why did you decide to participate at South Summit?
We want to gain visibility with investors and South Summit is the biggest start-up event in South Europe, attending is a must for every start-up willing to make it to the next level. We can’t wait to meet the rest of the finalists and the speakers that were already confirmed!
What do you expect from this event?
We expect to get in touch with other entrepeneurs to learn about their experiences. Also, we look forward to meeting investors willing to invest in our company’s growth opportunities.
How did you feel when you knew that you were a startup finalist?
We felt very proud. Being shortlisted out of thousands of candidates was an honour for us, we will give our best at the event!
What´s your dream in life?
Our dream is to build a better financial industry where good traders can live off their trading and investors can profit together with those investors!
Why would you encourage other entrepreneurs to participate at the South Summit?
South Summit is huge, it’s the place to be for start-ups and VCs. It’s very useful to force yourself to pitch your concept to people who are not familiar with it. You can’t miss out!
