Paul Allens Death Shocks the Sports World

Sad news spread Monday afternoon that Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and owner of the Portland Trailblazers and Seattle Seahawks, passed away from his longtime battle with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Allen was originally treated for the cancer back in 2009 and had been living cancer free until he anounced he was being retreated two weeks ago.

Paul Allen has owned the Trailblazers ever since 1988 and over his 30 years of ownership the team made 23 playoff appearances and advanced to the NBA finals twice.

During his time as owner of both successful orginizations he earned the respect of other owners and players he encountered. He was a posotive infuence and supported smaller market teams having professional sports orginizations.

In 1996 Allen took over ownership of the Seattle Seahawks and prevented the team from moving to California. He was very passionate about sports in the Pacific Nortwest. His teams were succesful, as owner of the Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2013 and were defeated in 2014 by the New England Patriots.

Paul Allens Death shocked the sports world and with the Trailblazers first NBA game of the 2018/19 season happening this thursday night, there is no doubt there will be a tribute to Allen before the game.
