First Video: The Expert

In this video, an expert is brought in to a meeting to help plan a design project. He is presented with conflicting, impossible, nonsensical, and ridiculous requests from the rest of the team. The other team members see no problems with their requests because they think that he, as an expert, must be able to come up with a great product.

The other team members do not understand the abilities and limitations of the expert. Because of this, they end up wasting time, energy, and money. There is a language barrier and an overall lack of understanding from the team members.

I’ve done work in graphic design and have had some similar experiences with clients. The solution is usually to just nod and say yes, then deliver the best product you can. Most times, the client doesn’t know the difference.

Second Video: TED Talk on Communication

This video explains that communication involves both sides. It speaks about the importance of being a good listener and knowing interpretation can affect communication.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
