The Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn Fight Was a Prime Example Of Why There Is No Peace on Earth

Well, it wasn’t the fight as much as it was the events that ensued.

This past weekend, legendary boxer — and Filipino icon/Congressman — Manny (Pac-Man) Pacquiao lost a highly controversial title bout decision against relatively unknown and heavy underdog, Jeff (The Hornet) Horn.

Even though the only knowledge I possess when it comes to scoring and judging boxing matches comes from the fights I’ve watched over the years and learning from Google, I called the winner of this fight before the judges’ decisions were announced. In my eyes, there was nothing controversial about this fight or decision.

The sore losers caused all the commotion.

But that’s not the point.

The point I am trying to get at is that too many people are too close-minded, hard-headed, and fixed in their ways that it’s preventing them from growing and developing into the person they have the potential to be.

These people responsible for manufacturing the controversy are also sending unnecessary negative energy into our universe!

While I understand that every single person is entitled to his/her own opinion, I don’t understand focuses are so narrow. Why is precious energy being wasted on blasting the judges’ decision or proclaiming how everything is a joke and rigged? Why not actually do something about it? Why not take some real tangible action, instead?

Instead of bitching and moaning about something that is completely out of your control, why not take a look within first? Why not try to understand why things are the way they are? Why not accept the fact that you could be influenced by some sort of bias? Or that…(gasp!)…you could be wrong altogether?

Honestly, I believe that changing the world is that simple.

It All Starts With You

As cliché as ‘it all starts with you’ is, it all starts with you!

To me, this boxing match epitomized why there is so much conflict and war going on in our world. There simply isn’t enough understanding, too much rush judgement and/or bias, and too many fixed mindsets in the population.

Too many people are fixed in their ways, unwilling to challenge their beliefs/values, and can’t accept the rapidly-evolving reality they’re living in.

Although our world is far from perfect and never will be, we all have the power to make it a better place. And to open your mind and be more understanding, to me, is fundamental to changing the world (which I intend on doing).

Change doesn’t happen overnight. But as soon as we become more mindful and conscious of what we’re doing, these minor nuisances in mindset will compound and lead to greater things.

Maybe one day even peace on Earth?

But first, there’s a lot that needs to be done in terms of thinking independently, being bold and not afraid of opposing what is considered to be “the norm,” and having it so that the media doesn’t influence and sway our opinions as much as it does.

Maybe I’m wrong and just talking out of my ass? Or, maybe I’m right and this is some extremely wishful thinking? Only time will tell…

But for now, all I know is that I see our world facing huge challenges that are in right in front of our noses.

The fucked up part: the solutions are also right there.

We just all need to open our minds up a little more and be a little less stubborn.
