What Children’s Literature Teaches Us About Money: Betty Smith’s ‘A Tree Grows in Brooklyn’
Nicole Dieker

I love this book (and this series on the billfold!) and am definitely due for a re-read. The passage I remember vividly is when Francie has to go buy the ground meat, and her mother instructs her to make the butcher grind the meat fresh in front of her, and how brave I thought Francie was to stand her ground even though she was intimidated.
