Enjoying the Westside Beltline. Ride participants used Relay Bike Share. After giving the Relay Bike Share demo. We left from Gordon White Park. This is a view of the “Optimistical” sculpture.
“Optimistical” is a stainless-steel sculpture that uses transparent colored acrylic to metaphorically highlight the brighter view and transformation of the area. The panels are arranged in a manor to suggest the old rail track from the past, while highlighting the materials that inspire hope and confidence about the future. While enjoying the great outdoors we stopped to discover this beautiful mural under the Lucile Avenue bridge. “The Highball Artist” is the name of the mural. It is railroad slang for an engineer known for running the train fast. This is a minimalist mural with intense color on a large scale, covering the sides and inside of the Lucille Street bridge and tunnel. The title and design imply that the speed of the train has come out through the tunnel, spilling color down one side of the bridge and exploding out of the other. We passed “Hurricane” an abstract metal sculpture of welded and painted steel. Artist: Ray Katz | Link >>> https://art.beltline.org/art/hurricane/
