Maybe I’m paranoid (I guess being paranoid about personal data is just The European Way), but I’m not sure if I’d be comfortable giving random apps access to my bank accounts, and let them move money around, and even into accounts that are not mine (e.g. Digit transfers money to a Digit-owned bank account, if I understand correctly). Especially if I can configure similar saving options directly from within my online banking.
Companies getting hacked, user data getting stolen etc. is not exactly common these days; what if that happens to one of those app companies? What if the company just goes belly up and just don’t have the liquidity to pay each user their savings back? What if etc.?
We can discuss the likeliness of such worst-case scenarios, but it still seems like an unneccessary additional risk, however big or small it might be.
