Jose Mourinho Accused Of Bullying Bastian Schweinsteiger

The German Schweinsteiger is no longer part of Mourinho’s future plans.

Dejan Stefanovic, an ex-player and FifPro member, accused Jose Mourinho of bullying the German Schweinsteiger. Besides being a lawyer, Stefanovic is also president of the Slovenian Footballers and Sportsmen Union.

The top lawyer emphasizes that the players of the first team have to train at the same time and with the coaches of the first team. He says that for any harassment or bullying there is a prison sanction. In that case, Manchester United manager would face three years in prison.

What has happened with Mourinho and Schweinsteiger?

In 2015, Schweinsteiger joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich when he signed a three-year deal. However, since Mourinho took over, the German trained either alone or with the Under-23s.

Due to an injury, Schweinsteiger failed to impress Mourinho and played 31 games last term. Thus, the midfielder was left out of the 25-man squad for the friendly against Galatasaray last weekend. Moreover, he was not among those 22 who appeared at Wayne Rooney’s testimonial on Wednesday.

As Stefanovic says, “it’s clear bullying”. He continued by explaining that in Slovenia, Mourinho would have to face three years in prison. As the FifPro member sees it, Mourinho’s treatment of the German is setting a bad example. His bullying is supposed to discourage the midfielder. In case the German decides to file a complaint, Stefanovic would seek a penalty for Mourinho.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich president, said, ”One or two players are going to think long and hard in future about whether they want to go to such a club.” He added that this shows a lack of respect for a worthy player such Schweinsteiger is. “Schweinsteiger is a key player, a world champion, a personality, while at the same time he has an exceptional attitude,” Rummenigge explained.

Manchester United have yet to comment on the matter.
