Danny Downs Baggies, Santi Shines

Danny Welbeck’s header ensured Arsenal triumphed yet again over West Brom, but Santi Cazorla was the star of the show.

In a match that was short on quality, the most notable moment of the first half came when West Brom keeper Ben Foster tried to dribble past Olivier Giroud and promptly lost the ball — the Frenchman’s followup shot skimming just wide.

The only moment of magic was the goal. Cazorla injected a burst of pace down the left wing, left André Wisdom for dead, and produced a pin-point cross for Danny Welbeck to head in for his third league goal since joining the Gunners.

In truth, until the last twenty minutes, West Brom offered nothing at all. In fact, they didn’t have their first shot until midway through the second half.

West Brom did rally though, and hit the bar late on through Berahino. However, their efforts were in vain, particularly after the introduction of substitute Georgios Samaras.
