With the rapidly expanding Terra ecosystem, despite still being in its early stage, the adaptability and sophistication surrounding the Terra blockchain is already showing through, and the addition of LunaVerse it only reinforces that further. LunaVerse is a Metaverse, a virtual world built on the Terra blockchain, with a combination of 3d realistic city models and NFT properties linked to yield-bearing deposits on DeFi protocols. Using the Unreal game engine in conjunction with Cesium (geospatial software), LunaVerse aims to create a high fidelity metaverse that can be accessed through a wide variety of devices whilst seamlessly integrating with Terra.

With a later 2.0 LunaVerse, NFT owners will be able to mint new ones for multistory buildings or sublease single-story locations, providing a depth never explored by the virtual world concept before. However, LunaVerse prides itself on the concept of linking NFTs to DeFi protocols, so how does this work?
When a property (NFT) is purchased, 80% of the purchase is deposited into a specific DeFi that certain property is based on (e.g Anchor Protocol). Then, the owner receives the value in LUV tokens from the treasure or what’s known as “rent.” 80% of the return from that DeFi protocol is sent to the LunaVerse treasury, and 20% is reinvested in the protocol itself. Initially, tokens will come from the yield farming allocations, but once that runs out you will be able to buy them on the market.
Players will not only be able to interact with DeFi protocols in an easy way through LunaVerse’s properties NFT system, there will also be random airdrops or rewards scattered around the metaverse for players to explore discover, with areas with better location and traffic will naturally, as in the real world, be more valuable.
All in all, a new project combining NFTs and DeFi protocols in a fun and exciting way aiming to deliver a simple and easy to use user interface to allow any player, no matter how knowledgeable to crypto they may be, to fully experience what Terra has to offer in a stimulating 3d experience.
