What was once merely an idea understood by a select few and a futuristic concept far from the realm of possibilities, has become a reality. Virtual reality is no longer a fantasy; it is a rapidly developing technology with real world applications. And at the forefront of the extensive development in virtual reality is Germany-based producer of products and services for the VR market, Staramba.

Staramba is the market leader for 3D body scanning and lifelike 3D Avatars. From that that the Avatars jump into the virtual reality, into video games and into a fullcolour 3D printer. Staramba is holding the world’s largest avatar database of sports stars, entertainers and other celebrities. Staramba will also be the first to bring to market a surreal VR experience with Staramba.spaces!

Mario Götze is a German professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Borussia Dortmund and the Germany national team.

Originally founded in 2014, Staramba won licensing partnerships in the sports, music and entertainment industry, ranging from the likes of Marvel, NFL, WWE, FC Bayern, Kiss, Elvis Presley and much more.

In 2016, Staramba was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and continued to further expand its portfolio to include FC Barcelona. However, it was in 2017 that Staramba decided to make a change that would lead it to where it is now; by selling its 3D factory and focusing on digital applications, Staramba propelled itself into a lucrative position in the virtual reality space.

By mid-2017, Staramba’s 3D database was launched as part of its preparation for VR applications. Only a month later, Staramba became the first operator of free photogrammetry scanners in the world, the 3D Instagraph Fusion. Staramba also launched its beta version of the VR experience, Staramba.spaces. In this time period, Staramba increased its revenue from around €1 million in 2015 to around €16 million last year while its shares also drastically climbed from just €6 in May 2016 to €60 today.

Staramba has three main products in its portfolio. Firstly are its 3D scanners. The 3D Instagraph Pro and 3D Instagraph Fusion link industrial strength and smart process automation to one of the most advanced full-body scanning systems available on the market without the need for involvement of operators. The cloud-based software platform unleashes the power of the brand new 3D rendering engine.

Staramba’s main products

High-Tech 3D Scanners

The 3D Instagraph’s cloud-rendering engine automatically generates high-resolution 3D models. It is a self-operating system that enables you to create professional 3D scans by just using the built-in touch panels. The Staramba Cloud Platform is a tool for users, owners and services providers. Users get access to various services like fitness, fashion and gaming applications that refer to your 3D model. The 3D Instagraph is equipped with a smart motion detection system. Based on the detected position data, it gently tells users how to position inside the scanning room in order to get the desired scanning result.

World’s largest 3D Database of stars

The second product is Staramba’s extensive VR database, which includes more than 7,000 photorealistic 3D characters of international celebrities and private models. Full access is available through the online navigator or through the developer-friendly VR API. This makes the casting of sophisticated 3D characters for professional VR, AR, gaming or CGI productions incredibly simple.

Staramba has exclusive partnerships with 14 international top clubs, including two national soccer teams, Universal Music, Marvel, Kiss, Bravado, WWE, NFL, FC Bayern, Chelsea, Arsenal, and FC Barcelona.
