We’ve heard from multiple sources that Andreessen Horowitz has just closed a highly competitive $5mm Series A in Andreessen Jr’s first company.

This deal gives a whole new meaning to the ‘fundraising acceleration’ we’ve been seeing, where companies like Slack have raised rounds at huge valuation premiums. Andreessen Jr’s company is yet to be formed, but from what we know the valuation was around a $20mm pre. It also appears that Andreessen Jr skipped the seed round, possibly for aesthetic reasons.

Other sources say the firm has already been inundated with resumes from eager candidates, and that Andreessen Jr has been swamped with emails resembling “I’m a VC, we’d love to be in the running for your B round, let me know if you want an intro to <name>, ex-CFO of <public company>”.

We’ll be posting updates as the story develops.
