You know you can cheat in Mint and relabel the date of a purchase, right? So you can make the transaction show up in your budget for August. I do this with my rent check pretty often, since it bugs me to have such a big number double-counted in one month just because my landlord waited to deposit the check. I also do this with work expense reimbursements checks (make the reimbursement check deposit date match the expenditure date).
You can also just mentally acknowledge that you’re bulking up July grocery spending with the expectation that your bill will be lower in coming months! Think of it like your checking account buffer: you always eat last month’s staples. (Please don’t start eating last month’s dairy, though!)
