Day 8 — #30Days30Sites

I think I’m slowly deciding that I might as well just do my updates in the morning on purpose instead of feeling like I fail to do them in the evenings when I’m done coding for the day.
Anyway, yesterday was another slow day for me. I got about 1.5 hours of coding work done on my Day 7 project (so I’m getting a little behind). But similar to the day before, I was probably only about 20% productive during that time. For two reasons…
Number 1, I had a family emergency so my mind/time hasn’t been where it needs to be in order to be super productive.
Number 2, I have to cram my coding in at the end of the day, and then splitting that time between coding and trying to learn some new things to do in that code gives me even less time than I thought I had.
For example, I am working on a movie splash page for the Day 7 project, and while I have tons of experience with HTML and CSS, apparently my javascript skills are lacking quite a bit (or I was just too unfocussed to think properly last night). I fought with getting a link to toggle visibility of some text for about an hour and didn’t really accomplish my goal. I spent most of the hour in google halfway understanding what I was reading.
In the end, I realized that I was trying to go about it all wrong and there was a simpler way to do it…so hopefully tonight I’ll be able to finish that one up and start on Day 8 and 9 challenges.
I’m super excited about growing my skills, I’m super excited that the Chingu Voyage started yesterday (and was CRAZY in chat!), still super excited to be moving along…but I’m just struggling to get my focus focussed when I sit down to code…so I gotta work on that somehow.
Well, until tomorrow o/
