Thank you for your response Philip. There are some circumstances in life that are out of your control and yes we ‘try our best’ to live under such circumstances. That I agree. However, ‘doing our best’ to cope with our circumstances in life calls for making choices. What choices you make throughout life will shape it — whether it’s financially, physically, and so on.
Don’t you think getting a job offer while being pitched by Yelp is an opportunity? There, everyone has one, it’s whether you want to see it or not, whether you seize it or not. You also have a choice to find one, I am not saying it will be in the terms of you spending your entire time on it. Seriously, how long does it take to update your linkedin? What about downloading the app and applying for jobs/sending messages on your smartphone during lunch? It’s whether you want to make an effort. Stop the excuses people…
Now, don’t victimize ourselves with blaming on how the system work. While employee does deserve a better living wage, don’t blame how terrible your life is — when it is your choice, on other things. We should fight for better wages but please don’t point fingers at everything that is going wrong in your life, sometimes you look within and improve.
