Hello! My name is Derek and I love steaks. Living in NYC with this particular taste can really be both a blessing and a curse as we have such easy access to world class steakhouses (if you can get a reservation that is) Eating at any one of them is pure joy for me. I love them all and the cuts they are each known for. From the iconic porterhouse at Peter Lugers to the bone in rib steak at Quality Meats.

But unfortunately, this habit is one that is hard to upkeep on tight budget. Like most New Yorkers know, wining and dining and these fine establishments can quickly add up. I found myself in quite the predicament as the cravings for a perfectly seared, juicy, melt in you mouth New York Strip wasn’t going to simply disappear.

When a man has limited options he often becomes very resourceful. 5 years ago I started the journey of learning how to prepare steakhouse quality steaks in the comforts of my own NYC-sized apartment. Everything from picking up the proper cuts of beef at the appropriate butchers, seasoning, proper equipment and cooking methodology.

It was really from there that the concept of Steik Co was born. Upon talking to my friends and families I soon realize that there are plenty of people like me. New Yorkers love steak and many would love to enjoy restaurant quality steaks in the comforts of their own apartments.

Steik Co is founded on that mission. We are looking to deliver premium steaks to New Yorkers and will help provide guidance on how to best cook one that will stand toe to with any of the fine establishments in NYC. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you later. Enjoy!
