Starting a new contract is always exciting, meeting your new team, learning how they are setup, getting all the project setup and at the same time trying to remember people’s names. There’s a lot to do.
Friday I started a new 9 month contract and one things I found was now with tools like NPM and Bower, and the power of GitHub it now takes minutes to get up and running on a new project. Unlike the old days, where you’d have to setup IIS, install ColdFusion (back in my ColdFusion days) and if you had a database as well then you are going down the road of install SQL Server and set up the data. At least that’s a weeks work just getting setup.
Well now setting up a project is just a few simple commands and you are up and running.
