I was visiting home last summer for the first time in two years and we drove past the house where I grew up and lived the first 24 years of my life. In the third grade I planted a pine that eventually grew taller than the house. Anyhow, at some point between visits, the new owners cut that tree down and I couldn’t explain how sad I felt.
