Interesting article. Just a small point of grammar. When you use “etc”, you should know this stands for “and so forth” (et = and; cetera= “so forth” or “such like”). So, please don’t write “and etc.” as the “and” is redundant, annoying to readers et cetera.
To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the “etc.” abbreviation as you would technically have to use a period after the term and probably a comma before. I tend to write: “There are many factors to consider when writing an essay in addition to your central thesis, such as checking for technical accuracy, choosing a logical structure and researching your facts thoroughly.” The “such as” (or you could use “including”) in the previous sentence has a similar function to “etc”, implying that there are many more factors you could list…
Anyway, well done with your essay and hope you don’t mind my pedantry!
