Appreciating the Teachers of Teachers

For educators, stepping out of the classroom means stepping into a new world of freedoms and responsibilities that often leave a teacher feeling very ‘un-teacher-y’. Teacher Appreciation Week/Day is a weird time for the coaches, leaders and other Teachers of Teachers that now fall into a gray space where the love of learning and kids is still so strong, but the ownership of the day to day has washed away. I think that we need to re-term the phrase to Educator Appreciation Day, and honor all those that inspire and motivate us to be more amazing. Teacher, Coach, Principal, Librarians, Tech Specialists…I am talking to you, now! YOU ARE AMAZING, You work so hard to support classroom teachers so that all kids have access to amazing experiences and opportunities.

My last day as a classroom teacher was 3 years ago…it’s been a whirlwind since, but I am so thankful for the connection I still have to ‘my kids’. To see them ‘all grown up’ and successful is one of my life’s great works.

I want to send a very special and specific thank you to the following @ksuiteach coaches whom I have the pleasure of working with every day.

Kris- For unwavering professionalism and calm in the chaos…

Nisa-For a heart that leads you to do whatever it takes…
