Tropical Storm Blanca

Satellite images and surface observations indicate that Blanca made
landfall near Puerto Cortes on Isla Santa Margarita around 1200
UTC with an estimated landfall intensity of 40 kt. Since that time,
some weakening has occurred and the current intensity is
reduced to 35 kt. Blanca should continue to weaken over the next
day or so as it interacts with the terrain of the Baja California
peninsula and continues to be influenced by strong shear. The
system should become a tropical depression by this evening, and
degenerate into a remnant low by Tuesday.
