14 Steps to Media dieting

Turning your news experience from snack food grazing 


Step 1. Log onto Twitter.

Step 2. Unfollow any media outlet.

Step 3. Log out of Twitter.

Step 4. Log onto Facebook.

Step 5. Repeat Steps 2 and 3.

Step 6. Open your primary browser.

Step 7. Set your homepage to Google, or your company’s website.

Step 8. Delete any RSS feeds.

Step 9. Delete any bookmarked news websites.

Step 10. Google the website of your local newspaper.

Step 11. Subscribe to said newspaper.

Step 12. Google the local alternative and/or community publication.

Step 13. Subscribe or start to pick up said alternative and/or community publication.

Step 14. Set aside a block of time every day to read your paper.

Now you not only have the biggest local, national and international stories delivered to you, but you also get them on a schedule. And can take the time to process it. Compare it to a home-cooked meal instead of mindless snack food grazing.
