How to Become Your Own Personal Champion When You’re Feeling Stuck

Having a personal champion can be life-changing. A champion is someone who will encourage you to be your best self and ask you hard-hitting questions to ensure that you’re not trapping yourself in any self-sabotaging mental models or behavioral ruts.

Sometimes, though, we don’t have a champion in our lives, and we need to look deep within ourselves to find inner strength and clarity. Other times, we have unique opportunities to become someone else’s champion.

Here are some of the best questions I’ve come across for leveling up and reaching our maximum potential.

  1. What words are you afraid to say? What thoughts get stuck in your throat before they can escape?
  2. What makes you feel most empowered? Are you doing that right now? Why not?
  3. Do you feel like you can tell [your cofounder; your partner; yourself] the fully honest truth, or are you hiding behind layers of half truths or best wishes?
  4. What does your intuition tell you? Do you feel inclined to listen? What excuses have you made for ignoring it?
  5. Do you have anyone you can share your deepest fears with? Would they give you mere platitudes, or actually challenge you to rise up?
  6. If you imagine yourself waking up tomorrow completely free of the things you’re struggling with (job, relationship, etc.), how does that make you feel? Do you feel suddenly light? Awakened? Limitless?
  7. If your best friend/sister/brother/boyfriend/girlfriend/favorite person in the world had this problem, what would you tell them?

Do you have any other awesome questions to add to this list? Comment them here, or email them to me and I’ll add ’em to the list: steve@dateworking.com.
