Stress Hack: Meditation — You’re likely doing it wrong.

Wow.., I am not even sure how to respond to this. My first thought is “where would you be right now if you hadn’t given yourself those 20 minutes per day to simply be with yourself? How do you know this wasn’t hugely transformational? There are many different meditation practices that make a huge difference in people’s lives. Most of us are not trying to be Buddhist Monks… we simply want relief from the crazy multi-tasking, technology, keeping-up-with-the Jones’ world we live in.

Even if you simply sat quietly for twenty minutes and allowed random thought to move through your mind, without ever moving to address them.., you have given yourself an immeasurable gift that many will never know. You have given yourself an opportunity to witness and observe your own thought patterns, your own emotions.

Sometimes mediation is boring as shit. It is not the experience you have while you are meditating. It is how it affects the way to walk around in your everyday life.

Giving yourself the gift of time. 20 minutes a day to do absolutely nothing but be with yourself is such a gift. But instead of appreciating or valuing it… it has been cast aside like a waste of time. Maybe in time the gift of what you have already given yourself will reveal itself.
