What Is Thinkful and Why I Recommend It

I just finished a course through Thinkful called Frontend Web Development and I can honestly say that it’s the best course I’ve ever done in my life (and I have done a lot). I have a great team at Study Web Development and we all love the Thinkful concept — read more below.

What is Thinkful?

Thinkful is a platform to learn web development online. What separates Thinkful from other great platforms like Udemy, Lynda, OneMonth and TeamTreehouse is that they offer ONE-ON-ONE teaching. You may be thinking, “what’s so special about that?” but this is actually incredible. It’s almost like the feeling a Japanese Flying Squirrel gets when it jumps from one tree branch to the other.

The best feature is that you are coding and ‘skyping’ at the same time. So while you code, your teacher/mentor will guide you through it and when you have questions or issues (which you will have) you get instant feedback and help. Each mentor has years of coding experience and they’ve often been teaching others for years as well. My mentor was a guy named Alex Thomas — he is the man!

• If you have any questions or if you need help with anything you can ask your mentor or ask the Slack community.
• Depending on your current knowledge and on which course you choose, you should be able to finish most courses between one to six months.
