On Monday, Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning held a PRESS conference to tell everyone what everyone already knew - that he was retiring after 18 years in the NFL.

At the PRESS event was USA TODAY national NFL reporter Lindsay H. Jones. While retirement PRESS events are probably historically softball press events where reporters ask the retiring player softball questions like what he’ll remember most about playing, Jones decided to ask a serious question - concerning allegations going back to Peyton’s college football days.

Watch Lindsay Jones ask a serious question at Peyton Manning’s retirement PRESS event (at minute 17)

Not only was Jones’ question completely appropriate (I can only imagine access to a high-profile athlete like Manning is rare — even for a NFL reporter) but it was also newsworthy because of the fact that this was the first time Manning has publicly denounced the allegations.

But fans did not see it that way. Of course. They saw a “bitch,” a “cunt” who dared to ask their football hero a serious question at a PRESS event. In front of his children.

The Facebook page, I am From Denver almost seemed to encourage fans to attack Jones.

I opted not to blur people’s names or faces since they opted to leave their kind comments on a public Facebook page.

If you thought only men would sling that word around, you’re wrong.
And of course, your standard vague threat of physical violence.
At least this person gets it
