In conversation with ‘Scarlett London’
We interviewed the fabulous fashion blogger Scarlett Dixon from Scarlett London, take a look at what we spoke about below.
1. How would you describe your own personal style?
My personal style is very feminine, comfortable and a bit boho. Although I do buy some trend pieces, I find myself gravitating towards floaty, girly staples. A long red grecian style dress is my favourite!
2. What trend are you loving this season?
I do love the leather or faux leather trousers that everyone seems to be sporting. I bought a pair for myself and underestimated how flattering they are (plus they’re great for a bit of extra warmth). Teamed with high boots, a fluffy gilet and a high neck knit, you can’t go wrong!
3. Who is your style Icon?
I don’t have one sole style icon but I love and take inspiration from Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid just to name two!
4. What do you think will be the big hits fashion wise for next season?
I think next spring-summer will be the influx of the mermaid. There seemed to be a lot of sequins, glittery, iridescence and pink at last seasons fashion shows. And I for one, can’t wait!
5. Where do you tend to buy your clothes, and why?
I love a mix of high street, online and high end. You can make any outfit look super luxe and expensive if teamed with the right items — my staples are my Valentino Rock Studs, which I adore! Otherwise, I go to Zara, H&M, French Connection, Reiss, Topshop, River Island and Missguided.
6. What fashion blogs do you follow?
I follow an enormous amount of fashion blogs but some of my favourites include InTheFrow, The Londoner and Lion In The Wild.
7. Do you listen to music when you are getting ready? If yes, what’s your favourite playlist on Spotify?
I love the most cringeworthy music possible. 90’s classics are probably my favourite to get me feeling ready to go ‘out out’. Although I do love a bit of ABBA too if I need a pick me up. Or a bit of Bieber.
8. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
Ooh gosh, what a scary thought! In 10 years time I hope to have expanded the digital branch to ‘Scarlett London’ which involves event management, blogger outreach consultancy, social media management and digital PR. While I’d love to still be running my blog alongside (and travelling the world), it would be amazing to take my events global!
9. What are your home comforts?
A peppermint tea and a hot water bottle and my snuggly Emu slippers, they are my go to (along with pjs) if I’ve had a bit of a bad day! Or if I’m just feeling lazy!
10. Trainers, what are your favourite?
Normally I’d say my Addidas Superstars which come with everywhere with me however recently I got a pair of the new Gigi Hadid x Reebok Iridescent trainers and they’re amazing! Literally a unicorn in trainer form! Insane!
11. What do you find are the top questions your followers tend to ask you most?
I’m still flattered people ask questions and ask advice because I’m certainly not an expert. But usually it’s things like ‘how do I start a blog’ which I’ve written a couple of posts on. The blogging world looked very different when I started my blog in 2011 and it’s grown considerably. Now bloggers are brands in their own right and commanding the attention of millions. It’s super exciting but I suppose for a new starter, it presents a difficult challenge. My advice would always be that there’s room for everyone, you won’t know if you don’t try and just to be YOU. Your niche is that you’re unique and you’re you! Show that off as much as you can!
12.Pretend you’ve agreed to participate in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. You’ve been told that you are only allowed to bring 5 items of clothing (including shoes and swimwear) and 3 beauty products what would you bring?
I absolutely adore that programme but I’m too much of a wimp to ever go on it! I practically jump out of my skin at the sight of a creepy crawly! Eek! Clothing wise, I’d want stuff that would cover me up so that I don’t get bitten to pieces like they do! Maybe a pair of Timbaland boots (stylish but practical) — I have a burgundy pair that I love. Then a long khaki shirt, a Triangl Bikini, shorts and a huge hat! Beauty products, I’d bring my Balance Me Cleanse & Smooth Face Balm, because it buffs away at dry skin even if it’s sensitive anddehydrated, then my Eucerin Moisturiser — because it’s incredible and maybe a bit of mascara (Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara) to make me feel and look a bit more human!
13. Where are people most likely to see you?
At home! I work from home on my blog, so I spend most of my life there. I don’t mind though — because it’s beautiful (or certainly coming along). My boyfriend’s just bought a house and I’ve moved in. It’s a new build though and was literally a blank box when we got it — no carpets, floors or anything! I’m transforming the top floor into a ‘beauty floor’ complete with office, walk in wardrobe and dressing room! As you can imagine, I’m VERY excited!
