In conversation with Stephanie from The Style Memo
We interviewed the lovely fashion blogger Stephanie from The Style Memo this week. Find out what her favourite trainers are, where you’re most likely to find her and what trends she’s excited for next season.
1. How would you describe your own personal style?
My personal style is very classic and I always favour a polished, monochrome look. My day to day go-to outfit is a pair of skinny leather leggings or high waisted jeans with an oversized cashmere jumper and a tailored jacket or coat. I throw on some statement sunglasses, Keds and a super luxe handbag and I’m ready to go.
2. What trend are you loving this season?
For winter I love military inspired styling. I just bought a beautiful maxi coat in navy wool with metal buttons from Tommy Hilfiger, which is one of my favourite pieces this season!
3. Who is your style Icon?
French fashion editors always look so chic — Emmanuelle Alt, Carine Roitfeld, Geraldine Saglio… I love that effortless, insouciant look — the skinny trousers with a perfectly tailored tux jacket and super skinny heels.
4. What do you think will be the big hits fashion wise for next season?
I love to check out the collections during fashion week but I don’t follow trends too closely — I think it’s best to wear what suits your style. However, for next season, I think a beautiful, and soft’ feminine style will be coming through, mixing layers and textures. I’ll be wearing silky bias-cut slips with super soft cashmere and losing the knitwear when the temperature finally starts to rise again.
5. Where do you tend to buy your clothes, and why?
I tend to order a lot online, particularly when a retailer has quick and easy delivery and returns. I love to trawling through ASOS and Net-A-Porter. For cashmere, tailoring and accessories I love Amanda Wakeley, and for show-stopping dresses, I love Bec & Bridge, Thurley and Reformation.
6. What fashion blogs do you follow?
I’m a real fan of fashion blogs and I’ve been reading some for years now. I love The Golden Diamonds, Fairfax Journal and Shine by Three for beautiful editorial shoots, Tuula for the ultimate in wanderlust, and Sincerely Jules for super cute street style.
7. Do you listen to music when you are getting ready? If yes, what’s your favourite playlist on Spotify?
Absolutely! I love listening to music and I have quite an eclectic mix on my Spotify — from deep house to reggae and soca, all the way to pop. My boyfriend is a DJ in the deep tech house collective, Housekeeping, so I’ll go from one night listening to his mixes to the next night catching up on the chart on Spotify.
8. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
Styling, photographing, creating, lets see…
9. What are your home comforts?
I travel SO much and it’s one of my passions, particularly when I find places that I have an affinity for, so as long as I have my loved ones around me, I think I’ve learnt to feel at home anywhere, but I do really love coming home to our beautiful little apartment in London.
10. Trainers, what are your favourite?
I never used to wear trainers but last season I picked up a limited edition pair of tan Nike Air Max 1 woven leather trainers which are pretty awesome.
11. What do you find are the top questions your followers tend to ask you most?
I always try and tag or link to the clothes that I wear so I think my top questions are generally travel related. Followers like to ask for recommendations of places to go or where I’m going next.
12. Pretend you’ve agreed to participate in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. You’ve been told that you are only allowed to bring 5 items of clothing (including shoes and swimwear) and 3 beauty products what would you bring?
I’m a little bit swimwear obsessed so I’d probably bring a bikini from Bec & Bridge and a swimsuit from Mara Hoffman, then mirrored sunglasses from Quay Australia, a pair of Keds and an oversized linen shirt from Equipment. I’d take Nuxe suncare, Ciate Wonderland mascara and Charlotte Tilbury’s Instant Look in a Palette.
13. Where are people most likely to see you?
In Chelsea or Heathrow.
