Engardio, either you haven’t thought this through or you’re totally clueless about the realities of cycling in a major metropolitan area, SF or otherwise. Your very language, in addition to this fantasy that making cyclists pay for registration and insurance would suddenly placate road raging a-holes and impel others to pay more attention undermines your claim that you’re “pro-bike.” Cyclists do not “hit a door.” The door is flung out in front of them by a motorist who isn’t paying attention. I wonder why this Dennis Seaman was stuck with his medical bills instead of the insurance of the motorist who sent him to the E.R. If this Dennis Seaman does exist, and you could follow up on that, that’d be great.
