ENGLISH — Trip to Sudan, part1
Official website: https://sudangoldcoin.com
As planned, we posting a report on the trip of the SudanGoldCoin team (hereinafter — SGC). The trip took 7 days. Provided that there is a lot of material and the pre-ICO running, the report will be posted in parts, based on available time.
Main purposes of the trip:
- To conduct the meetings with the Ministry of Mining of the Sudan to discuss the terms of the concession for the development of the gold bearing land plot.
- To meet with Sudanese partners of the SGC project.
- Personally visit the two land plots and take samples of gold bearing ore for control analysis.
All questions related to the organization of the trip, such as invitations, entry and exit visas, tickets, hotel accommodation, meeting arrangements, car rental, invitation to the Ministry, permission to shoot with a quadrocopter and much more, was kindly organized by Fahd el Saleh, co-founder of the SGC project.
For Ukrainian team members, preparations for the trip started a month before the trip, with the vaccination from the Yellow Fever. Without a certificate of vaccination, you will not be allowed to enter Sudan. This is because the fever mentioned is poorly treated and often also ends badly.
The vaccine was done in one of the private clinics in Kiev, it was not painful and almost without any side effects. As a reward to all those vaccinated, a certificate was issued, and its colour seems to guarantee the protection against the Yellow Fever.
Day 1
The month of preparations, correspondence, approvals, past fast and now we are ready to fly to Khartoum. To be more precise, the first flight is to Sharj, and from there to Khartoum. As usual, the plane from Boryspil to Sharj was a little late, and we sucsesfully miss the transfer to Khartoum. Not a big problem, + 3 hours of waiting, and we are still vigorous sitting in a half-empty plane trying to calculate how much time left to sleep, if the plane arrives to Khartoum at 4 am, and at 9 already the first meeting.
As we flew at night, instead of photos of clouds and desert from the window of the plane, I propose you to feel a little local thisness.
Thanks to the presence of Fahd el Saleh, the Sudanese border security promptly stamped our entry visas, but still delayed by refusing to accept dollars issued earlier than 2003 (it turned out to be a feature of Sudan — dollars older than 2003 are practically useless, because nobody wants to accept / exchange them).
Sudanese customs officers could not resist the opportunity to shake our nerves and confiscate the quadrocopter, despite the availability of the permit for photography. Since there was a deep night in the courtyard, it was decided to leave the quadrocopter for storage at the customs, and in the morning to send our lawyer to handle the issue. As it later turned out — this decision played a cruel joke with us and broke the plans a little, as the next day suddenly happens to be Saturday — the only day-off in Sudan. In this regard, the receipt of additional documents and the release of the quadrocopter took three days and we used to go to the desert without it.
Day 2
The hotel, 2 hours of sleep, preparations, coffee, cigarettes and departure for the first meeting with our Sudanese partner — Elhadi Mohammed, an engineer with 20 years of experience as the chief engineer at the gold mining plant, and now CEO of the Golden Ideas.
It’s always nice to meet live with people with whom you have only been communicating by phone or through e-mails for a long time.
After the traditional greeting and exchange of courtesies, Elhadi delivered a presentation describing the characteristics of the gold mining industry in Sudan. In addition, he spoke about the gold mining plants started in Sudan with the support of the Golden Ideas.
An interesting fact, according to official statistics, in Sudan — in 2016 it was extracted about 90 tons of gold. And only 10% out of this amount was produced by the large companies that have concluded a concession agreements with the government and working officially. All the remaining gold is mined by the gray miners. This is a huge problem for the budget and the whole country as a whole. This is why the government of Sudan is now trying to change the situation by attracting investors which will be ready to operate within the law framework.
We will return to the topic of illegal miners later, and now we continue our communication with Elhadi, in particular review the sites proposed by Sudan’s government to SGC project for development.
One of the land plots was already presented to the number of investors, so we can share the information about.
The second land plot, so far, was only been proposed to us, so we do not disclose it to public.
Both sites have approximately equal characteristics and are not far from each other (only a few hundred kilometres across the desert :)).
The ore samples from both land plots are promising, here is one of the protocol as an example:
It is necessary to add that we, as probably most of you, are also skeptical about any paper with the seal from Sudan. However, for these samples, we have a certain level of comfort, since the control of sampling and analysis was carried out by Golden Ideas company headed by Elhadi.
In addition, the best confirmation of the presence of the gold on the site is the activity of gray miners, as well as the gold content in the tails. For reference, tails — are the exhausted ore raised from the ground during the gold mining. However, even tails may be of interest for commercial gold mining, since gray miners using the primitive gold extraction technology collected only up to 20% of the gold contained in such ore. We will explore about this in more detail later — in that part of our journey, where we select control samples of gold ore for further analysis. To be continued….
