CourseBuffet — Free DIY Degree in Computer Science or Management

CourseBuffet is a one stop platform for accessing free courses from top-notch universities from the comfort of your own laptop, tablet or smartphone.

We all know that how college helps us in getting degrees, but it’s not the only way to get the required knowledge. Living in the ever-changing tech — where some of the courses are repeated or are often dated in college — put us tens or hundreds or thousands of dollars, that might even empty your bank balance or more than half of it, is not how education should be provided.

There are several MOOC’s that fulfil such thirst of knowledge for free but some of them aren’t organised in one curriculum. Keeping that one root cause in mind, CourseBuffet came up with a model of providing these courses all in one organized place grouping them into degree paths for specific course. Currently, it provide two degree paths — Computer Science and Management, just like any actual college degree. Each segment requires 120 credits to “graduate” having 40 courses within.

For example, in CS degree, first segment requires 24 credits for Core Computer Science, some of which includes into to computer science, data structures, computer architecture, algorithms, programming languages, databases, etc.

There are two electives as well, one having subjects related to Biology and other having several options to choose from various other subjects. Out of many, Computer Science includes — web development, automata, intro to data science, mobile application development, iOS app development with Swift, and so on.
