Apple Seeks to End Debate about Encryption

It’s not about encryption. The workaround explained on 9to5Mac (http://9to5mac.com/2016/02/17/apple-fbi-court-order-method/) does not require Apple to crack the encryption, only disable the automatic shutdown and slowdown of failed passcode attempts. This requires installing firmware signed by Apple, so the FBI can brute force their way through the passcode, and encryption can’t stop someone from using a passcode. The debate instead is whether Apple can obstruct the FBI from trying to guess the passcode. Brilliant workaround to both encryption and its debate.
