Sunnyside Cemetery

Previously known as “the mobile NFT card game,” we’re proud to officially announce our flagship project: Sunnyside Cemetery!

A haunted cemetery brimming with possessed souls. Frightening monsters puppeteered by malevolent entities. Face off against the forces of evil with an army of Reapers — and bring death to life.

Overview

Sunnyside Cemetery is a PvP card game that shares DNA with Hearthstone, Magic the Gathering, and other deck-builders — but with some surprising twists that we’re keeping close to the chest for now. The gameplay centers around playing combat units and spell cards to keep your opponent on their toes while manipulating the battlefield, your opponent’s deck, and even the cards themselves to give yourself the upper hand.

Mintable Card Sets

Sunnyside Cemetery will use special NFT card set(s) of Reapers that mint for varying rarity and visual appeal (holographic, first edition, etc.) — just like the booster packs in trading card games of old. Holding early Sunnyside Reapers mints in your wallet will earn you NFT card airdrop(s) when the game releases. We’ll release an upcoming article soon with more information!

When players are building their decks with Reapers they mint or buy, we want those choices to be visually and thematically clear, fun to put together, and offer strategic power in-game (without being overpowered). Here’s how:

  • Cards can belong to Factions depending on the Reaper’s border. Certain factions may have advantages over others, or may change how the battle plays out.
  • Reaper, scythes, handhelds, and some accessories will affect their stats (e.g. a glowing Nightlife scythe inflicts burn damage, a Mythos shield provides +5 block)
  • We’re using a “power allocator” to balance stats so that, even with thousands of cards, there won’t be clear outliers that upset the balance of the game
  • Certain Reapers may have high-risk, high-reward special abilities

Game Mechanics

We’ve already created the game rules and a sizable number of cards, which are split up into Monsters, Supports, and Omens. However, to keep our idea safe we won’t be sharing too much about the mechanics of the game just yet. Here’s what we can say:

  • NFTs will not be required to play the game. You can use the Monster, Support, and Omen cards included with Sunnyside Cemetery to battle without ever needing to mint. However, in building the most competitive decks, those with a cohesive set of Reapers will most likely have an advantage.
  • We hope to keep the game interesting for both players across the entire match — giving underdogs a chance to turn the tables if they’re smart, tenacious, and lucky!

Release Timeline

We’re still early on in development of the actual Android app that Sunnyside Cemetery will be played through first (sorry iPhone owners, your app store is a headache and will take more time). We hope to share more in the coming months as we aim for an initial release of December 2022
