You’ve probably seen many of the projects Robert Valley has worked on over the past 2 decades, but who the hell is Robert Valley? And why should I care?

Robert began his animation career working with Peter Chung on AEON FLUX back in 1992. This MTV cult classic has had a permanent impact on Valley’s style and desire to make animations that appeal to older audiences.

Eventually, Valley ended up in London animating with Jamie Hewlett and Pete Candeland on the GORILLAZ music videos.

Valley continued his work relationship with Pete C for several years, which culminated into 2 game cinematics. The first was BEATLES ROCK BAND…

and the second was DANCE CENTRAL…

To some extent the London dream fizzled out and Valley found himself in LA doing character designs for Titmouse on MOTORCITY…

MOTORCITY naturally gave way to the next job in LA, which was a character design gig at Disney on TRON: UPRISING…

Tron was great, but all good things come to an end (or get cancelled). Next up was a directing and animation job on DC Nation’s WONDERWOMAN…

PEAR CIDER AND CIGARETTES — A ROBERT VALLEY FILM

In 2012 Valley decided to step away from the freelance work for a while and pursue his own dream of directing and animating his own film. 4 years later the film is finally done. PEAR CIDER AND CIGARETTES is the most ambitious project of Valley’s long animation career and it is being released in July of 2016.
