May 17th 2017 Wednesday, My journey started from Kasol, a small village at a distance of an hour from Bhuntar.

2:00 pm, sitting at a half broken shanty, waiting for the nearby cafe to prepare some Maggie for us. My room’s window offers a beautiful view to the ice covered mountains & when we started this trek to a small hamlet called Rasol, sun was still shining with a chill in the wind you love to experience.

By the time we reached this place, dark monsoon clouds had taken the place of the snow, covering all mountains. We reached the cafe just in time to avoid a massive rain.

It took no time for the weather to change from chilly to rainy & I’m totally loving it. There is nothing about this view, this experience, that you can not love. Amidst the mountains where the only noise you hear is the rain barging on the corrugated Tin roof of our shanty & a low background music playing somewhere in the distance. I can see a temple nearby soaking in monsoon. Made of beautiful wood & adoring a beauty that’s tough to ignore. It’s wonderful how the houses are all very modest but the community came together to build a beautiful temple. A place of togetherness built together.

simple yet beautiful houses & a magnificently done temple

We waited for long for the rain to subside, it didn’t. we decided to head down in the rain & the decision was for the good. A mesmerizing scenic beauty was waiting for us. Down the bridge, mist hugging the mountains, trying to reach its peaks. White mist cladding on the dark surface of the mountain, wrapping it all around, hugging, climbing it, bit by bit. Rain pouring us with drizzling splashes & smoke pouring the mountains.

I’ve not seen heaven yet, but it must be somewhere in the mountains.

6:00 pm back in the room
The rain has still not stopped. It’s 6 pm but the weather has been consistent since almost noon & understandably so, Kasol is covered with mountains from all 4 sides & the only time poor sun gets to peek in is during noon. Before & after that it’s always cloudy, cool & comfortable.

The mist has finally won, it overtook the mountains. All you see out of the window is pure white mist, as if just for today, the water has stopped flowing from mountains & a magical white mist has taken its place. Beautiful.

Day 1 ended with some great music & exploration of kasol. The air is chilled & wet, its 7:30 pm & I think the best I can do for now is to hit the sake. Good night.
