Democrats in the House Want to Overturn the Hyde Amendment
Democrats in the House are all aglow about something they have been waiting to do for years. It involves the Hyde Amendment.
Unfortunately, non-voting conservatives helped them get to this point.
Let me explain.
Democrats have proven time and again since the midterms why it’s so important for conservatives to cast a vote.
From the introduction of gun control legislation to a lack of interest in protecting the border, Democrats in Congress are all about continuing to break down the U.S. Constitution and the American way of life.
And speaking of life, Democrats are now in a stronger position than ever to repeal a ban on federal funding for abortions.
A Democrat Rep. from Colorado, Diana DeGette boasted during a press conference that:
“I believe that for the first time, maybe in our nation’s history, we actually have a pro-choice majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.”
With Planned Parenthood’s president in attendance, lawmakers who belong to the Pro-Choice Caucus which defends abortion rights, declared that they plan to pass the “Each Woman Act”.
The Act, if passed, would undo a longstanding ban on using federal funds for abortion.
Since 1976, the Hyde Amendment, prevents the use of federal dollars for abortions except in the cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the woman.
As you may recall during the Kavanaugh hearings, Democrats in Congress were especially concerned that Kavanaugh would overturn Roe v. Wade.
It appears that they are now taking additional steps to insure that the practice of abortions will continue. However, this time, they want the full funding of all abortions from federal taxpayer dollars.
Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., declared a “new era for reproductive rights” and vowed to roll out the “boldest pro-choice legislation in history.”
The only thing standing in the way of making Lee’s dream come true is the GOP-controlled Senate and your future vote to take back the House.
