Liberal Left Group is Using the FEC to Target the NRA

In case you missed it because it was buried in late Friday news, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) has begun a preliminary investigation against the National Rifle Association after a liberal advocacy group, American Democracy Legal Fund filed a complaint.

What was the basis of the complaint?

Like many liberal Left “complaints,” the latest ploy is nothing more than a “fishing” expedition.

The liberal advocacy group is using the FEC (and perhaps willingly) to determine if any Russian entities gave illegal contributions to the NRA which were intended to benefit the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election. The complaint raises the possibility that a banker with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin was involved.

In other words, without saying it but implying it, the group is hoping to prove “collusion” between Russians and the NRA, and ultimately collusion with Trump.

Since Robert Mueller, special counsel who was appointed to determine if Trump colluded with the Russians in order to win the presidential election, has found “zero,” “zip,” “nada” to implicate Trump in any wrongdoing, the liberal advocacy group is now focusing on another angle which could connect Trump to Russia via money he received through the NRA.

Basically, the group is upset that the NRA and its lobbying arm, the Institute for Legislative Action, contributed $30 million to the Donald Trump presidential campaign.

They seek to prove that a large sum of money, like $30 million for Trump’s campaign, was secured by the NRA who worked with the Russians in order to help Trump win.

Secondarily, what does the liberal group hope to accomplish?

They wish to use the FEC to do Mueller’s job for him since he was not able to find “collusion” with the Russians.

In short, it’s another trick from the left-wing playbook to pursue all options by using the system to get what you want.

Thirdly, what else does the liberal group hope to do?

If all else fails and the FEC decides not to conduct a full-blown investigation, then due to the initial inquiry, the NRA will most likely be required to turn over their “internal documents and campaign finance records.”

Let me break it down for you even further.

This could allow the liberal group to get their hands on information they would not otherwise have access to in order to discover who donates to the NRA, at least who the big donors are and how much each person donated to the Trump 2016 election.

A “leaking” of this treasure trove of names and donated amounts would equip the Left with fuel to target certain donors (and or businesses) and “convince” the business owners that they may want to vote “wisely” or reconsider their pro-Second Amendment positions and call for gun control instead of supporting the NRA.

At the very least, they may “encourage” them to cancel their NRA memberships because it’s the “right thing to do.”

In the past, donor lists that were “released” to the public have caused businesses to be boycotted or CEOs to step down due to a donation that was deemed to be unfavorable by the public.

What you can be assured of is that the liberal Left is up to its same old tricks and we must not sit silently by and watch them use our system to achieve their underhanded goals.
