Muslim Congressman Has the ‘Edge’ in Upcoming DNC Chair Vote
Looking at a list of candidates who are up for the Democratic National Committee chair, one has to wonder what has become of the Democratic Party?
This weekend in Atlanta, the Democratic National Committee will decide who they will choose as their new DNC chairman.

Currently, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) has an edge over former Labor Secretary Tom Perez, according to a survey recently conducted.
The survey asked 240 DNC members who they wanted to see head the DNC. The results were as follows:
Ellison leads with 105 supporters to Perez’s 57. The remaining major candidates have less than a dozen supporters each, while more than 50 DNC members remain undecided.
While individuals could change their minds, it appears that the election will lead to many rounds of voting before one candidate reaches the 224-vote threshold.
It’s difficult to understand how either candidate could be favored by middle class American Democrats but they won’t be casting a vote.
Rather, the progressive members of the DNC will most likely select one of the two candidates to lead their Party, although progressive Sally Boynton Brown, who feels it is her responsibility to “shut other white people down,” is also a candidate.
The front runners, Ellison and Perez have the necessary backing to become the next DNC chair.
Ellison is a member of the House and the first Muslim elected in Congress. He is backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). It is clear by those who back him that Ellison, among other things, is clearly a progressive.
Ellison it seems, also has another, perhaps unexpected supporter in former KKK Imperial Wizard and former Louisiana State Representative, David Duke.
I’m not sure what Duke thinks Ellison “knows” but apparently it is enough for Duke to support him.

Perez, a son of immigrants and the former Obama administration Labor secretary, is backed by former Vice President Joe Biden and former Attorney General Eric Holder. If it isn’t obvious from his backers, Perez is also a progressive.
While the election may not have been decided yet, what is certain is that should Ellison be elected, more talk about impeaching President Donald Trump will be on his agenda.
Ellison told CNN on Wednesday that:
“Trump has done a number of things which legitimately raise the question of impeachment.”
