What are you currently working on?

I’m working in Leukemia, Cell Biology, and Biomedical Science.

What encouraged you to pursue this topic?

My passion for molecular biology is the driving factor of pursuing topics that I’m doing research.

What methodology are you using or used for your research?

Mainly I’m using molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.

Where are you currently based?

I’m based in City of Hope National Medical Center, Los Angeles

Where do you find your best inspiration for your work?

My inspiration always comes from the unmet needs of cancer biology that cause the deaths of many patients.

What do you hope to achieve with your research?

The main thing I want to achieve with my research is discovering novel therapeutic targets to overcome shortages of cancer research

I have a google scholar profile. You can find all my publications there.

What’s one of your biggest personal achievements so far?

I would say Publishing a first author paper in PNAS.

What lessons would you share with a budding researcher?

I always say to learn from your mistakes and persevere.

What motivates you to be a researcher?

I became a researcher because I have a passion for discovery and well being of patients.

What are the changes the Sri Lankan education system needs to meet the requirement of high tech industries?

I think an entrepreneurial mindset needs to be encouraged. More management and people skills need to be trained for students at the university level. Moreover, improving practical components of education is a must and also engaging more with researchers and updating STEM subjects with the latest findings needs to be done.
