How to solve the social problem of supermarkets throwing away too much food

Here is an inspiring example of German social entrepreneurship

Foodsharing is a non-profit organization established in many cities in Germany. The idea is to redistribute the food where it is needed or used to reduce food waste.

There are different ways of doing this:

  • Pick up the food from a private person that he or she doesn’t need anymore and offer it to other individuals or to food banks
  • Pick up food from supermarkets that they cannot sell anymore and offer it to individuals or food banks
  • Either you deliver it from door-to-door or you put the food into “Fair-Teiler” like fridges at university campus everyone has access to and can put stuff in it and take whatever they want to
