Brother SOB, I appreciate your honesty and our candor. I appreciate your integrity in writing this. And your bravery because to express the depths of your pain — and where it has taken you — this openly took guts.

I’m a Christian Socialist so from both aspects, I am angry and hurt that Justine is dead, just as Aiyana, Tamir, Sanda, Alton, Eric… Too many names. I almost feel disrespectful naming a few and not all of them. As a mother and woman, I mourn that another woman and mother was gunned down by the corrupt representatives of the even more corrup, lecherous state. It is immoral and wicked to murder unarmed minorities, white people, any other human being. These are our brothers and sisters; from a working class standpoint, these were our comrades and comrades’ children. The state is corrupt and it is only there, with its “special bodies of armed men” and its “prisons”, etc., to punish and enslave us; to oppress and exterminate our best and brightest or our most in need of redemption. The only way to stop this mass murder is to dismantle the state and the ruling class that sics these dogs in uniform on all of us.

What I’m saying is I understand where you are coming from and why. And I won’t judge you because grief is grief, no matter how it manifests itself. Not like me judging you or not matters. I don’t think anyone should judge you. I don’t feel the same way, and I don’t agree with the sentiment that her life did not matter, but that’s only because my grief hasn’t manifested itself in the same way. And that is okay.

You didn’t come to these feelings on your own. White Supremacy as an agent of capitalism is a fucking beast. I’m more upset that it has conspired to make you and others feel this way. Your sentiment is not what anyone should take an issue with (although they can disagree on a personal level). What they should take issue with is that we live under a system that pushes and pushes people of color and other minorities to feel this way in this first damned place.
