The Top 7 Workout Jams of 2016 So Far

Nothing beats working out with a good track jamming in your ear. But of course, songs get old quickly; if you work out on a daily basis, that playlist you put together before the holidays may already seem repetitive and hardly motivational. (Have you read our blog on why Music is helpful? Read Here. )
Fortunately for you and all other workout lovers, the music industry never stops. From new releases just waiting to refresh your playlist to 2015 songs that are beginning to gain traction early this year, there’s plenty of music to help you keep the motivation going! Here are our top 7 tracks of 2016 so far, to help keep you exercising with enthusiasm.
Nothing like a confidence booster at the start of your workout! Demi Lovato’s “Confident” is a couple of months old by now, so you may have run across it in your playlist, but that does not reduce its workout appeal. It’s still near the top of the charts, in large part because of its positive, empowering message and powerful beats.
2) Robin Schulz feat. Francesco Yates — Sugar
A fun rhythm along with a catchy, sing-along tune — what more do you need for a productive workout? Released in late January, German DJ Robin Schulz (known for hits like “Sun Goes Down” and “Headlights”) once again provides just the right electronic background for a good workout.
3) Lost Frequencies feat. Janieck Devy — Reality
This song by two Belgian artists has cycled the charts in Europe for quite a while now, since mid 2015 to be exact, but is just gaining traction in the United States. A steady beat combine with upbeat lyrics that put a smile on your face, and are sure to motivate you to keep going in your routine.
4) Panic! At The Disco — Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time
The rock ensemble’s fifth album Death of a Bachelor just peaked at #1 on the Billboard’s Album Charts, and its newest single — “Don’t Threaten Me With a Good Time” — is the best workout song from the album so far. It’s rhythmic, fun, and you can’t help but move to it.
5) AlunaGeorge feat. Popcaan — I’m In Control
As a teaser to its new LP, set to be released later this year, AlunaGeorge just released a new single. “I’m in Control” is the result of a collaboration with Jamaican Dancehall artist Popcaan, and the dancehall rhythms shine through the entirety of this fun and lighthearted song.
Released in December 2015, this song just keeps climbing up the charts. It may be a little slow for some faster or high-intensity workouts, but it works well for the rest in between — and it’s tempting to jam along as The Weeknd’s voice climbs high for the chorus. Have you tried Sworkit Pilates? I think now is the time, with this song in mind!
7) Justin Bieber — Love Yourself
A slow song to work out? It’s by Justin Bieber, so you know the rhythm will still be there. In many ways, it’s the perfect cool down jam, allowing you to wind down after an exhausting workout. Bieber knows how to make a catchy tune, and that’s no different here.
