The Nimiq Discord Update — Week 4
Welcome to the Nimiq Discord Update! This a community contributed weekly write-up on what Team Nimiq have been posting in the official Nimiq discord channel alongside community led projects and content being created for Nimiq.
Nimiq Core v1.1.2 Released
Week 4 see’s a small update to the Nimiq Core with the release of v1.1.2 with a further increase in miner performance and fixes an issue with pool-client connections.
With the Release of v1.1.2 there has been a decrease in the Global hashrate, peaking at 878.38 MH/s on the 10th of May with a low of 502.14 MH/s.
Exchanges (Listing & Discussion)
In Vlog 51 by the Nimiq Team, Chinese community manager Sui reiterated the stance that the Nimiq team is contact with multiple exchanges with a listing TBA.
- An unconfirmed developer from exchange TradeSatoshi posted in the discord, with a rumoured listing there.
- An unconfirmed developer from Netbalancer posted in the discord with licenses being sold at 7k NIM each. (Contact through their official website)
- Community member AXE recently posted a Nimiq listing to Sharedax a to-be-launched exchange. Voting for Nimiq can be conducted here.
Marketing (Plans, Strategy & Design)
Since Week 3 there has been no updates with regards to marketing plans and strategy. Last week, Nimiq creator Robin Linus posted his ethos on marketing found on my previous post.
There has been talk that the Nimiq front-end team is currently working on revamping the safe.Nimiq.com user-interface design with work on the Nimiq.Community website following suit. For those seeking a style sheet for the Nimiq brand, community manager Richy mentions a redesign for Nimiq to unify and form a coherent experience.
Mining (Pools & Developments)
Following the launch of the Nimiq official mining pool source code last week, there are number of pools both accessible through the official Nimiq miner as well as third party pool miners from Sushi Pool and Porky Pool (among others found in the Nimiq discord). Global hashrate currently skews toward Beeppool with an approximate 65% dominance on the Nimiq network.
Vlog 51 was a small mining pool update with Sven and Pablo (?) working on the mining pool architecture to reduce security flaws and increase ease of use.
Trading & Price
OTC trading of Nimiq within the community is still set in a range between $0.0075 to $0.01 with transaction and volume remaining static. Official exchange listing is TBA.
Community (App devlopment & Announcements)
- Nimiq.Watch maintained by Nimiq Team member Soren was recently updated to include pool-names and transaction details.
- Sushipool recently updated the UI of their website which includes pool and miner statistics.
- NimiqWP (Wordpress plug-in) has recently been updated by Discord moderator Stephane.
- Beeppool developer & owner recently created a recovery word tool that can handle 1 missing word.
- Community member Reyne recently submitted a design for a possible Nimiq card which would print your Nimiq address on the front.
- Porkypool & Sushipool is conducting a NIM giveaway for those that join their pool.
